In 1970 Neil Garrett became the head football coach and in 1977 he became the second coach of the track team, alongside Ross Cariaga. He coached the football team until Don Read took over in 1977, and he coached the track team until track was dropped as a sport in 1980. In 1977 he also started coaching the wrestling team. He additionally began coaching the women's volleyball team in 1979 and held this position until Mary Bradford replaced him in 1980. He retired in 1981 after the wrestling season ended.

Neil also taught physical education and, for a time, was the Athletic Director of ½ð²©ŠÊ˜·³Ç. He passed away at the age of 87 on March 20th, 2017 in Reno, Nevada. He is survived by his wife, 4 children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Danny Miles first started working at ½ð²©ŠÊ˜·³Ç as a baseball coach in 1970. He coached baseball until 1967, and then for one additional year in 1990-1991. He did not start coaching basketball until his second year at ½ð²©ŠÊ˜·³Ç, 1971. He coached the basketball team until 2016.

Coach Miles brought the team to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division II National Tournament seventeen times. With his guidance the team won this national title in 2004, 2008, and 2012. His players also succeeded in winning 23 regular season conference and conference tournament championships. When he retired from his position, he had helped the team accomplish 1,040 wins. This number of wins is the fourth highest among all NCAA and NAIA coaches.

For one year Darwin Hahn was the coach of ½ð²©ŠÊ˜·³Ç tennis team.

Paul Huston was the cross-country coach from 1971-1975.

Jay Lane was the assistant wrestling coach from 1972-1973.

For two years Sharon Brite was the tennis coach of ½ð²©ŠÊ˜·³Ç. The year of 1975 is the last year that ½ð²©ŠÊ˜·³Ç had an active tennis program.

Carolyn Hahn was the assistant tennis coach to Coach Sharon Brite for the year 1974-1975.

Mary Bradford coached some of the first sports at ½ð²©ŠÊ˜·³Ç that were ever offered to women. She began coaching women's volleyball, women’s basketball, and women’s softball in 1975. The women’s volleyball team was taken over for one yar 1979 by Coach Garrett, though Coach Bradford retook the position the following year. In 1982 women’s volleyball was officially handed over to Sue Thompson (Whitlatch). She coached until the year before women’s basketball until the Oregon Ballot Measure 5 of 1990 forced OIT to eliminate all sports except men’s basketball and women’s softball. She continued to coach women’s softball until her retirement in 2004, after which Greg Stewart took over.

Richard Vaughn became the head wrestling coach in 1976 and held the position until Mark Haner took over in 1982.

In 1976 Bob Polski began coaching the men’s baseball team at ½ð²©ŠÊ˜·³Ç. He coached this team until 1978, when Howard Morris became head baseball coach.

John Lund was the first advisor for the men’s soccer team in 1977-1980, though he was not the team's coach.

Asad Arazi was a player who acted as coach for the men’s soccer team in its first year, 1977-1978.

Don Read was ½ð²©ŠÊ˜·³Ç’s football coach from 1977-1981, when Dick Arbuckle stepped in as head coach.

Before coming to ½ð²©ŠÊ˜·³Ç, he coached at Portland State University, and the University of Oregon. After leaving ½ð²©ŠÊ˜·³Ç Don Read went on to coach at Portland State again and then at the University of Montana.

In 1995 he received the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division I-AA Coach of the Year Award. He was also inducted into the Montana University Hall of Fame in 1998. He additionally wrote a book called, The Complete Passing Game. He currently participates in scouting and game planning for the Oregon State Beavers in Corvallis, Oregon.
